Volunteer Descriptions

Verona Lacrosse Club depends on volunteers. The club and athletes thrive when we come together as a community. VLC has a wide range of volunteering opportunities and positions available with a wide range of time commitment levels.

Game Day Opportunities

These volunteer opportunities are available at each "home" game and during the Badger Spring Invite.

Game Field Set-Up and/or Take-Down: Arrive prior to the first game to set up goals, score keeper table & chairs. Ensure fields are properly marked.

Culture Keeper: Remind overly enthusiastic spectators to remain respectful to all and to "honor the game". Ensure spectators are on the correct sidelines (not on team sideline), all sidelines are kept clear of trash and make sure to clear all items left behind.

Clock/Scoreboard: Keep track of the game clock, stopping and starting accordingly, and keep score.

Penalty Time Keeper: For 14U and G14 games only, the primary responsibility is to track penalty time, counting down the last 10 seconds, and release the player to the field. May vary slightly for boys/girls and different age groups.

Season Specific Opportunities

These volunteer opportunities exist primarily only immediately before and during the lacrosse season. Rarely, these positions will be called upon outside of the season to support the Verona Lacrosse Club programming. Some of these positions will exempt the family from completing additional volunteer hours.

Head Coach or Assistant Coach: Online certification is required by Badgerland Lacrosse Association and is paid for by the Verona Lacrosse Club. Resources are available to assist in your coaching endeavors so no lacrosse experience is required! Structure and run practices and games. Teach teamwork, endurance, perseverance, and foster love to the sport of lacrosse. Volunteer Hours Exempt Position

Team Parent Representative: Help other parents understand volunteer roles, coordinate team correspondence, and act as liaison between player parents and coaches. Parent Rep assists with handing out player pack items to their team. Parent Rep also is responsible for paying referees. This position must be filled for each team for league play to begin. Equipment Manager/Coordinator: Organizes team bins for game day. Tracks and orders necessary supplies at the start of season and on an ongoing basis throughout the season. Coordinate the distribution, tracking, collection and cleaning of rental equipment. Volunteer Hours Exempt Position

Volunteer Coordinator (1 boys; 1 girls): Responsible for managing volunteer hours, fielding questions, and reporting those who are delinquent to the youth directors at the end of the season. Volunteer Hours Exempt Position

Pre-Season Field Painting: Assist with pre-season field painting at Sugar Creek (2), Badger Ridge Stadium, K-wing Fields (2 U10), VAIS Practice Fields. Training is provided.

Adopt- A- Field Ongoing Painting: Adopt a field (or 2!) to maintain. Frequent checks at your field through the season and prior to home game days are required. Retain the responsibility to repaint through the season to maintain vivid lines. A good volunteer option for those needing to work within their own schedule. Volunteer Hours Exempt Position

End of Season Party Coordinator (1 boys; 1 girls): Coordinate the youth end-of-season celebration, including securing location, date/time, plan menu, collect fees/ donations, and organize coach gifts, report to youth director for budget. Volunteer Hours Exempt Position

Fundraising & Recruitment Opportunities

These volunteer opportunities are stretched over a full year with "episodic" occurrences of higher time commitment. The primary goal of these opportunities is to develop successful fundraising events and recruit & retain families. Some of these positions will exempt the family from completing additional volunteer hours.

Trivia Night Chair: Work with representatives from the high school booster clubs to plan and execute all aspects of Trivia Night within a pre-approved budget. This includes coordinating trivia night volunteers, planning and obtaining donations and gifts to raffle off, obtaining raffle tickets, coordinating with venue, an assisting with trivia questions. Fall Salt Sales Chair: Work with representatives from the high school booster clubs to plan and execute all aspects of the Fall Salt Sales with a pre-approved budget. This includes coordinating volunteers for both blast sale and distribution efforts, developing & distributing marketing, and coordinating with vendors. Volunteer Hours Exempt Position

Sponsorship Advocate: Solicit and coordinate sponsorships for t-shirts, banners, and/or website alongside Program Director, other committee chairs, and webmaster. Applicable information will be provided to support your efforts. Volunteer Hours Exempt Position

General Fundraising Advocate: Explore and secure new and innovative fundraising opportunities for the Verona Lacrosse Club.

Recruitment and Retention Coordinator: Distribute information about the Verona Lacrosse Club programs. Promote programs through advertising with local news sources, coordinate with social media manager & webmaster for internet & social media advertising. Coordinate programs such as TryLax and participation on local parades. Locate and secure opportunities to participate in local events that will increase community's exposure to VLC.


Club- wide Opportunities

These positions span a full year or more with varying levels of commitment. These positions are highly responsible for the future direction of the Verona Lacrosse Club. Some of these positions will exempt the family from completing additional volunteer hours.

Board Positions Volunteer Hour Exempt Positions

VLC President: Provide overall direction to the club and oversee all club activities. Voting member of the board.

VLC Vice President: Assist the President as needed. Voting member of the board.

Secretary: Record meeting minutes, email meeting summary as directed. Voting member of the board

Treasurer: Manage cash and banking, financial ledgers, and budgeting. Maintain insurance and required documentation. Voting member of the board.

Girls Director: Oversee the youth girls program and coaches. Voting member of the board.

Boys Director: Oversee the youth boys program and coaches. Voting member of the board.


Supporting Positions Volunteer Hours Exempt Positions

Program Director: Oversee all club programs and events. Provide support and delegate duties to all club programs and events. Facilitate the coordination and collaboration of all volunteer positions and committees. Non-voting member

Director of Communications: Craft and send out club-wide emails and correspondence. Collaborate with webmaster, social media manager, and related committees. Non-voting member.

Webmaster: Manage website content and layout. Responsible to updating information seasonally and fielding questions related to website and app use. Collaborate with club directors, fundraising committees, graphic designer, and other related volunteers to coordinate website content.

Graphic Designer: Work with related committees to design/update promotional pieces for banners, t-shirts, club fliers, website and social media content, and promotional brochures. Ensure all logos and designs adhere to copyright regulations.

Social Media Manager: Manage content and promote VLC endeavors on Facebook and Instagram accounts. Work with Webmaster and other volunteers positions. Ensure all media postings adhere to VLC rules and regulations.
